- Update on LB456 The hearing for LB456 (the lower security deposit measure) was held on March 6
in front of the Judiciary Committee. Senator Brashear opened the hearing announcing that there were
not enough votes in the committee to send it to the floor and that it would probably die in committee.
With that he encouraged the landlord packed room limit the testimony on the bill. Only one person the
young lawyer who drafted the bill, testified in favor. Thanks to those who attended and those that
spoke opposing the bill. The bill's sponsor, Senator D. Pedersen in his remarks read by his aide, said
that he intends for this bill to "open the dialoge" between landlords and tenants to make
needed changes to the Landlord Tenant Act.
